The Constitutional and Mainland Affairs Bureau officially launched the "80th Anniversary of China's Victory in the Anti-Japanese War and World Anti-Fascist War Commemorative Webpage" on August 20, providing the public with extensive historical information and event details. This initiative aims to commemorate history, honor the martyrs, promote peace, and look toward the future.

The theme of the commemoration, "Remember History, Honor the Martyrs, Cherish Peace, and Build the Future," seeks to deepen public understanding of the Anti-Japanese War's significance and victory. It also aims to foster a sense of national pride and spirit while highlighting the importance of peace.

The commemorative webpage (www.80avictory.gov.hk) features a diverse range of official and community activities, including memorial ceremonies, artifact and photo exhibitions, guided tours of war relics, thematic lectures, workshops, war movie screenings, micro-dramas, and cultural performances. Notable exhibitions include the "United as One, Safeguarding Peace—Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Anti-Japanese War" (August 27 to December 15), co-organized by the Hong Kong Museum of History and the National Museum of China, and the "Weathering the Storm Together" exhibition (August 29, 2025, to July 8, 2026), presented by the Hong Kong War and Defence Museum and the Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum.

A bureau spokesperson noted that the Special Administrative Region (SAR) government will host a variety of commemorative and educational events, coordinating and supporting community-led initiatives to highlight the historical significance of the victory. The official ceremony will take place on September 3 at the Hong Kong City Hall Memorial Garden, honoring martyrs and fallen compatriots.

The SAR government encourages public participation in youth mainland exchange programs, on-site visits, and museum tours, engaging citizens of all ages to collectively remember history.
