Fact Check: Key Trial Highlights of the Jimmy Lai Case (Part 3)
Jimmy Lai Funded UK Connections
Financed "Elections Observation Mission"

Trial revealed Jimmy Lai’s UK connections covered prominent figures such as Benedict Rogers (founder of Hong Kong Watch), Luke de Pulford (member of the UK Conservative Party Human Rights Commission), and former Hong Kong Governor Chris Patten.
Lai admitted that Rogers had repeatedly advocated in public speeches for the UK to lead sanctions against China, and because he agreed with Hong Kong Watch's ideology, Lai donated £20,000 to show support. Subsequently, through Rogers, Lai connected with UK House of Lords member Lord David Alton.
Lai financed HK$500,000 through Andy LI to organize an“Elections Observation Mission,” in which foreign politicians were invited to Hong Kong to witness the District Council elections in 2019. Lord Alton was invited.
