Jimmy Lai Transferred Over HK$90 Million to Pro-Democracy Parties in 7 Years

Police financial investigation revealed that between July 2013 and July 2020, Jimmy Lai transferred more than HK$100 million to his assistant Mark Simon. Of this amount, over HK$90 million was distributed through Lai's personal companies and Mark Simon's bank account to various pro-democracy parties and individuals, including the Democratic Party, the Civic Party, the Hong Kong Alliance, AU Nok-hin (defendant in the "35+ Subversion Case) ,etc.
Additionally, Lai transferred approximately US$225,000 via his personal account to former US Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, and HK$3.5 million to Cardinal Joseph Zen. Evidence demonstrates that Lai not only maintained connections with multiple political parties and figures, but also provided substantial financial support to them.
