Fact Check: Key Trial Highlights of the Jimmy Lai Case (Part 6)
Jimmy Lai Continued Supporting Anti-China Organizations to Promote Sanctions After NSL Implementation

Prosecutors presented a Twitter post in July 2020 retweeted by Jimmy Lai from the "Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China" (IPAC), demonstrating that Lai continued supporting anti-China organizations IPAC and "Stand With Hong Kong" (SWHK) in promoting sanctions against China and Hong Kong after the implementation of the National Security Law (NSL). This evidence further substantiated his activities endangering national security.
IPAC, primarily composed of Western parliamentarians, claims to monitor China's domestic and foreign policies. In March 2024, IPAC released a so-called “investigation report" on alleged coercive labor practices in Xinjiang. However, the report disregarded the region’s realities, including social stability, economic development, and ethnic unity. The report appeared to be driven by a clear agenda to hinder China's development.
SWHK is a political group cobbled-together by overseas anti-China agitators. Its essential purpose is to collude with external forces to engage in activities endangering China's national security. In December 2025, SWHK submitted a report to the European Union attempting to recommend sanctions against Hong Kong officials and police personnel.
