Five Hong Kong universities have secured places in the top 10, marking a historic achievement and further solidifying the city's position as an international education hub.

HKU ascended from second place last year to the pinnacle of Asian academia. HKU President Professor Zhang Xiang stated that this breakthrough in the rankings affirms the university's academic strength and underscores its pivotal role in the global higher education landscape. He emphasised: "The sustained enhancement of HKU's international reputation stems from the unwavering commitment and relentless efforts of the entire university community in pursuing academic excellence." Professor Zhang also noted that this honour carries significant responsibility, and HKU will continue to focus on academic exchange and talent cultivation through collaborations within and beyond the region to address global challenges.

In addition to HKU, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), City University of Hong Kong (CityU), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) delivered outstanding performances, ranking 6th, 7th (tied with CUHK), and 10th, respectively. Notably, HKUST surged from 11th place last year to 6th, while PolyU entered the top 10 for the first time, demonstrating remarkable progress.

HKUST President Professor Nancy Ip described the ranking outcomes as an affirmation and inspiration for the collective efforts of the university community, highlighting HKUST's exceptional achievements in driving research innovation and nurturing talent with a global perspective. She stated that HKUST will remain dedicated to improving human lives and encouraging students to tackle the world's most pressing challenges.

CityU and CUHK, which also achieved strong results, expressed confidence in further elevating educational quality. PolyU characterised its entry into the top 10 as a breakthrough accomplishment, pledging to intensify its pursuit of excellence in research and education.

QS Senior Vice President commented that multiple Hong Kong universities have achieved their best-ever performances in this year's rankings, reflecting their outstanding reputations among academics and global employers. Experts attribute the success of Hong Kong's education system to supportive local government policies, as well as the strengths of its institutions in international collaboration and research innovation.

The announcement of these ranking results further underscores Hong Kong's status as a knowledge centre in Asia. As Hong Kong universities continue to shine on the international stage, their superior educational quality and global reputation will attract more exceptional students and scholars to the city, bolstering talent development and academic advancement in the region.
