The Housing Bureau’s "Well • Being" initiative has marked a key achievement with the successful upgrading of public spaces and communal facilities at Fu Shan Estate in Wong Tai Sin. Carried out under the "Let’s Go Well-being – Well-being Design Pretest" pilot scheme, the completed revitalization was recently inspected by Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho Wing-yin, alongside Legislative Council President Starry Lee Wai-king and local Wong Tai Sin district councilors. Ho highlighted that the estate now offers a noticeably brighter, more welcoming atmosphere that has been warmly embraced by local residents.

As one of five public housing estates participating in the pilot program, Fu Shan Estate underwent an extensive overhaul of its outdoor areas, amenities, and overall environment. A once dark and easily overlooked entrance now features a vibrant, eye-catching estate signboard, while previously plain walls are adorned with distinctive murals showcasing local character. Recreational zones have also been redesigned to serve all age groups, seamlessly combining dynamic play areas for children with comfortable seating where adults and seniors can gather and socialize.

During the site visit, local families and elderly residents were seen enjoying the newly designed communal seating while children played nearby. Ho underscored that resident well-being lies at the heart of these design efforts, noting that feedback gathered during the tour was overwhelmingly positive. Numerous residents gave the transformations a top rating, an endorsement she described as the ultimate recognition for the project team.

Building on this progress, the Housing Bureau remains committed to tailoring future public housing refurbishments to the community's needs and fostering a stronger neighborhood bond. Several additional projects at Fu Shan Estate are currently underway and approaching completion, including a multi-purpose activity and fitness zone in the central atrium, an upgraded main pedestrian walkway outside Fu Fai House, and a redesigned landscaped garden. Through these ongoing enhancements, the bureau aims to continually refine the living environment and elevate the overall quality of life for public housing residents.
