HK para athletes strike four medals in table tennis, swimming at National Games

Hong Kong added four more medals — two golds, one silver and one bronze — on the morning of Tuesday at the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, bringing the delegation a total of HK$693,750 in cash incentives from the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The highlight came in the XD14 mixed doubles para table tennis event, where Wong Hon-lam and Winnie Pang Wing-ka defeated Jiangsu to secure Hong Kong’s first gold medal in para table tennis at these Games. The victory earned the pair a HK$375,000 team prize.
Pang, who was born with cerebral palsy that affects her right side, juggles full-time university studies with elite-level training and is also supported by the Jockey Club Striding On Scholarship.
In the swimming pool, Lau Chiu-yee claimed gold in the Women’s S14 200m freestyle, pocketing HK$187,500, while her teammate Chan Yui-lam took silver in the same race for HK$93,750.
Ng Cheuk-yan rounded off the morning haul with bronze in the Women’s SM7 200m individual medley, receiving HK$37,500.
All awards were presented under the Jockey Club Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme, which offers HK$187,500 for individual gold medals and HK$375,000 for team golds.
The Hong Kong Jockey Club has committed more than HK$500 million to support the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities across Hong Kong and Guangdong, funding initiatives such as volunteer programmes and free admission for disadvantaged groups and schools. Approximately 100 Jockey Club volunteers are currently assisting at venues in the Hong Kong competition zone.
