HKSTP Leads Hong Kong Companies to Major Innovation Exhibitions in Europe and the US, Aiming to Expand Global Market Access for Local Startups

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) will make its largest-ever showing at the BIO International Convention 2026, while also leading 24 Hong Kong innovation and technology enterprises to exhibit at VivaTech 2026 in Paris.
HKSTP Chief Executive Officer Albert Wong Ping-hau highlighted that artificial intelligence and biotechnology represent the most influential industry sectors of the future. He noted that Hong Kong is well-positioned, leveraging its strong research capabilities, international connectivity, and close ties to the Greater Bay Area market, to develop into a key hub linking the innovation and technology ecosystems of Mainland China, Europe, and the United States.
VivaTech 2026: 24 Hong Kong Companies Focus on AI and Green Technology
At VivaTech 2026, taking place from 17 to 20 June, HKSTP, in collaboration with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and several local universities and research institutions, will organise a “Hong Kong Pavilion” featuring 24 Hong Kong innovation and technology companies. Sixteen of these enterprises are from the HKSTP community and span sectors including artificial intelligence, health technology, and green technology.
Participating companies include Formwork IO, which specialises in sustainable building materials developed by upcycling industrial by-products and using bio-based dyes to create construction materials capable of absorbing and sequestering carbon dioxide; LeafIoT, which applies AI-powered solutions for smart tree management to enhance urban forestry efficiency; and Pantheon Lab, a generative AI developer whose technologies are already deployed in the financial and public service sectors.
BIO 2026: Largest-Ever Hong Kong Pavilion Showcases 41 Life and Health Innovations
Another major highlight is the BIO International Convention 2026, scheduled for 22 to 25 June in the United States. HKSTP, together with Invest Hong Kong, the HKTDC, and the city’s top universities—including The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University—will lead a large delegation and establish the largest “Hong Kong Pavilion” in the event’s history.
The pavilion will showcase innovative achievements from 41 enterprises, universities, and research institutions. This year’s participation represents a doubling in scale compared to last year, with exhibits covering cutting-edge areas such as AI-driven drug discovery, innovative therapies, diagnostic technologies, and gene therapy.
Notable participants include GenEdit, which will present its in vivo gene editing platform utilising novel gene editing tools and delivery technologies to develop new treatments for genetic diseases, and MedK Biologics, which focuses on nucleic acid drugs and antibody development. Its therapeutic nucleic acid vaccine for HIV/AIDS has completed Phase I clinical trials and is preparing to advance to Phase II.
Attracting Capital and Talent to Strengthen Hong Kong’s Role as Global I&T Hub
Beyond exhibition booths, HKSTP will organise investment matching sessions, business pitching events, and international networking activities to help companies secure technology licensing, financing, and cross-border collaboration opportunities.
The Corporation stated that through its participation in these two major international exhibitions, it aims to further reinforce Hong Kong’s role as a “super connector,” assisting local innovation and technology enterprises in expanding into global markets while attracting overseas talent, capital, and technologies to Hong Kong, thereby driving the sustained development of the city’s innovation and technology ecosystem.
