Hong Kong Chief Executive Lands in Astana with Record-Breaking Business Delegation to Central Asia

Chief Executive John Lee has touched down in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, spearheading a high-level trade and business delegation to kick off Hong Kong's mission into Central Asia.
Representing the largest delegation of its kind under the current government, the group features over 40 business leaders and professionals from Hong Kong alongside roughly 30 mainland Chinese enterprise representatives. This historic joint venture showcases the highest number of participants and the widest industry coverage this term, marking the second time Hong Kong and mainland entities have teamed up to expand their global footprint together.
Upon arrival, Lee was warmly welcomed at the airport by Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of National Economy, Assan Darbayev, and Minister Counsellor Cheng Kefan of the Chinese Embassy, expressing his sincere gratitude to both.
During the diplomatic visit, Hong Kong is set to ink several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with two Central Asian nations. Additionally, numerous bilateral cooperation agreements will be finalized between public and private sectors from Hong Kong, mainland China, and the host countries.
Lee emphasized that this visit is poised to deepen cross-sector collaboration between Hong Kong and Central Asia, pave the way for new trade corridors, and unlock fresh opportunities in these emerging markets.
