Trump Says He Plans to Investigate Subsidies Received by Musk’s Companies, Considers Deporting Him to South Africa

The relationship between U.S. President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk continues to deteriorate. Trump has indicated that he may have the Department of Government Efficiency investigate the government subsidies received by Musk’s companies. In response to a reporter’s question, Trump also said he would consider deporting Musk from the United States.
Reporter: “Would you deport Elon Musk?”
President Trump: “I don’t know, we’ll have to see. We might have to deal with Musk through the Department of Government Efficiency. Do you know what the Department of Government Efficiency is? It’s a monster that might bite Musk back, isn’t that scary? He’s received a lot of subsidies.”
On Tuesday, Trump posted on social media, claiming that Musk may have received more government subsidies than anyone in history and suggested that the Department of Government Efficiency should investigate the subsidies acquired by Musk’s companies. He further stated that without these subsidies, Musk might have to shut down his businesses and return to his native South Africa.
Musk, born in South Africa, has recently fallen out with Trump over his opposition to Trump’s “Big and Beautiful” tax and spending bill. Musk recently posted again, criticizing the bill and threatening to form a new political party the day after Congress passes it.
