A latest Reuters/Ipsos poll concluded on March 1 reveals that only about one-quarter of Americans support U.S. military action against Iran, while roughly half believe President Donald Trump is too eager to deploy force.

According to Reuters, approximately 90% of respondents said they had heard about the recent strikes on Iran. About 27% expressed support for the action, 43% opposed it, and 29% were unsure.

In recent months, Trump has ordered strikes against Venezuela, Syria, and Nigeria. The poll found that 56% of Americans believe Trump is overly enthusiastic about using military force to advance U.S. interests. This view is held by a vast majority of Democratic supporters (87%), 23% of Republican supporters, and 60% of independent voters.

Reuters noted that the poll was conducted following U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran. Although 55% of Republican voters supported the strikes, with 13% opposing, the survey also showed that 42% of Republican voters indicated they would be less likely to support the action if it resulted in casualties among U.S. troops stationed in the Middle East.

Additionally, respondents expressed concerns about rising oil prices, with about 45% saying they would be less likely to support action against Iran if U.S. gasoline or petroleum prices increased. Reuters pointed out that some analysts predict oil prices could climb to $100 per barrel due to the conflict.

Trump's latest approval rating has dipped slightly to 39%, down one percentage point from a poll conducted February 18-23.
