Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Lands in Uzbekistan for Next Phase of Central Asia Tour

Following the completion of his trip to Kazakhstan, Chief Executive John Lee landed in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, on Wednesday evening. This marks the second stop of his official tour through Central Asia.

Upon arrival, Lee expressed his gratitude to Uzbek Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Ilzat Kasimov, and the Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Yu Jun, who both greeted the Hong Kong delegation at the airport.

Lee highlighted Uzbekistan's position as Central Asia's most populous nation, emphasizing its youthful demographic, wealth of natural resources, and robust workforce. He pointed out that the country's recent economic reforms, digital transformation efforts, and market liberalization have fueled rapid growth, opening up significant business prospects.

Furthermore, Lee noted that both Hong Kong and Uzbekistan are actively involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, creating vast opportunities for collaboration. During the visit, the delegation plans to meet with local officials and business leaders, tour innovation, technology, and cultural hubs, and work toward establishing new cooperative ventures.
