On September 8, 2025, at 10:46 AM, Hong Kong Police received a report regarding Hong Kong Express Airways flight UO235, which had arrived from Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX). The aircraft, upon landing at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), reportedly veered off the runway and collided with a grass patch, causing the landing gear to briefly emit smoke. Emergency services promptly responded to the scene, but no smoke was observed upon their arrival. Preliminary reports indicate no injuries among the 137 passengers and crew members on board. The Airport Authority arranged buses to safely transport passengers from the aircraft.
According to the Hong Kong Airport Authority, the incident occurred when the aircraft, while taxiing after landing on the North Runway, is suspected to have struck a runway sign. As a result, the North Runway was temporarily closed for inspection and reopened at 12:15 PM.
Hong Kong Express Airways issued a statement confirming that flight UO235 experienced a deviation during taxiing after safely landing at Hong Kong International Airport. The aircraft came to a stop on the taxiway, and the crew followed standard operating procedures, coordinating with ground staff to ensure passengers could disembark safely and orderly. The airline emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew remains their top priority and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused, thanking passengers for their patience and understanding.
The Airport Authority further noted that the aircraft, carrying 137 passengers and crew, was inspected on the taxiway following the incident, and all passengers have since safely disembarked. No injuries were reported, and the North Runway resumed operations after necessary checks were completed by 12:15 PM.
