Hong Kong is set to host the 94th Interpol General Assembly for the first time in the coming year, as revealed by Commissioner of Police Joe Chow Yat-ming, who underscored the Hong Kong Police Force's (HKPF) pivotal role in international law enforcement advancements.

While commending the organization's accomplishments, Chow emphasized the imperative to eschew self-satisfaction, advocating for robust partnerships, mutual expertise dissemination, and the preservation of the HKPF's esteemed status as "Asia's Finest."

Chow portrayed the city's designation as the venue for this premier global policing forum as an extraordinary privilege.

He noted that during the HKPF delegation's submission on China's behalf at the prior Interpol General Assembly in Glasgow, United Kingdom, the proposal garnered full consensus from all participating nations. Organizational efforts for this assembly of senior police executives and governmental representatives have been progressing for more than a year.

The HKPF demonstrates a sustained dedication to transnational collaboration and sustains strong affiliations with Interpol. Chow highlighted the deployment of personnel at Interpol's central command in Lyon, France, and its regional hub in Singapore.

Furthermore, the HKPF routinely facilitates cross-border educational initiatives, imparting specialized insights into financial malfeasance probes, drug interdiction strategies, and safeguarding high-profile gatherings.

Having previously undertaken a temporary assignment at Interpol's General Secretariat in Lyon, Chow recounted receiving accolades for Hong Kong's exemplary performance in countering deceptive practices during a recent engagement at the facility.

Recognizing the escalating borderless nature of criminal activities, he affirmed that the HKPF intends to bolster global alliances through the advancement of collaborative exercises and intelligence interchange among enforcement entities.

Since commencing his tenure in April, Chow has focused on enhancing organizational solidarity and cultivating a profound sense of accomplishment within the HKPF. He articulated that the "One Force" doctrine forms the cornerstone of the institution's ethos—no member operates in isolation.

"Regardless of rank or position, from myself to every colleague, we constitute a unified entity—'one team.' My aspiration is for all personnel to embrace this cohesion, derive fulfillment from their duties, and perform with exceptional dedication," he remarked.
