Following the debut of the CHIIKAWA DAYS themed Light Rail train in July, the MTR Corporation introduced the CHIIKAWA DAYS Tuen Ma Line themed train, running from August 3 to August 31, 2025. The train made its inaugural journey from Wu Kai Sha Station at approximately 11:00 AM on August 3, featuring a carriage design inspired by the night forest and vibrant fireworks from the Chiikawa story, creating an enchanting day-and-night contrast with the earlier Light Rail theme.
Fans Flock to Wu Kai Sha Station for the First Ride
The platform at Wu Kai Sha Station was bustling with Chiikawa fans on the morning of August 3, eagerly awaiting the themed train’s arrival around 10:40 AM. The train paused for about 20 minutes, allowing fans to explore and take photos before departing at 11:00 AM. Many brought their cherished Chiikawa figurines and manga for photo opportunities, with some even traveling from as far as Cheung Chau to catch the first ride.
Creative Design and Calls for More Cultural Events
The train’s interior is adorned with Chiikawa character patterns, which a fan praised for its thoughtful design, though she suggested incorporating even more diverse illustrations. Having visited the ongoing CHIIKAWA DAYS exhibition at K11 MUSEA but unable to secure tickets, she expressed hope that Hong Kong would host more cultural and creative IP events like this, noting that they bring joy to fans.
The MTR has also provided collectible cards for passengers to enhance their photo experiences. The CHIIKAWA DAYS Tuen Ma Line themed train continues to attract fans eager to celebrate this beloved franchise, with many making the trip to Wu Kai Sha Station to join in the festivities.
