The 2026 edition of the "Palace Museum Dreamscapes" Charity Summer Camp kicked off in Beijing on Monday. The six-day cultural immersion initiative has gathered 138 teachers and students from Macao, Hong Kong, and the Chinese mainland, including a group of 49 primary and secondary school pupils from Hong Kong.
Co-organized by the Forbidden City Cultural Heritage Conservation Foundation alongside the Palace Museum, the initiative receives exclusive financial backing from the Institute of Philanthropy (IoP).
Throughout the program, participants will engage in interactive learning, guided educational tours, and cross-regional exchange sessions at the Palace Museum. Their itinerary features a visit to the "Galloping Through Time: Digital Reimagination of Horse Art and Culture" exhibition, along with excursions to prominent Beijing destinations such as the Badaling Great Wall, Peking University, the Water Cube, the Bird's Nest, and the flag-raising ceremony at Tiananmen Square.
This event represents the third year of IoP's sole sponsorship as part of its ongoing five-year partnership with the Palace Museum. The initiative has reached over 350 educators and students since its launch in 2024.
Ann Kung, Deputy Chairman of the IoP and Trustee of the HKJC Charities Trust, attended the opening ceremony as an officiating guest.
During the event, Zhu Hongwen, deputy director of the Palace Museum, emphasized the institution's dedication to deepening youth appreciation for traditional Chinese culture. Meanwhile, Ann Kung urged participants to expand their perspectives, build meaningful connections, and take on future roles as guardians of Chinese cultural heritage.
Reflecting on the impact of the program, a past participant remarked: "I had only ever viewed the Palace Museum on TV screens before, so experiencing it in person was absolutely thrilling.
