Two Domestic Helpers Arrested After Infant Found Unconscious with Brain Injuries

Two foreign domestic helpers have been arrested following an incident in Sheung Shui last Sunday where a four-month-old boy was found unconscious with a brain bleed and bruising.

The infant's father, surnamed Lo, reported that the family's maid contacted him around 2:11 AM on January 18th. She had just finished feeding the baby, known as "Sai Bo," and discovered he was unresponsive. An ambulance was called at 2:22 AM.

Sai Bo was rushed to North District Hospital, where medical examinations revealed brain bleeding and bruising. Due to the severity of his condition, he was then transferred to Prince of Wales Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to relieve fluid buildup in his brain. He is currently in stable condition in the intensive care unit.

Mr. Lo provided home security camera footage to the police. According to Lo, the footage showed the family's Filipina maid, who was hired in August of the previous year and usually "acted normally," shaking the baby roughly and grabbing him by the neck.

Lo expressed his outrage, stating that the defenseless infant was subjected to what he considers "murderous" actions. He has taken to online platforms to raise awareness about the incident and to caution other parents to carefully monitor how their domestic helpers interact with their children.

Police have arrested two foreign women, aged 28 and 45, on suspicion of child neglect. The Tai Po district crime unit is currently investigating the case.
