The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Business Leaders’ Summit is scheduled to take place in Shenzhen from November 17 to 18. On September 10, Russia’s TASS news agency, citing Kremlin officials, reported that Chinese President Xi Jinping will hold in-depth talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the summit.

TASS further quoted Russian Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov as stating that the two leaders have no plans for a separate bilateral meeting during the BRICS summit this weekend.

Earlier, on September 9, the Kremlin confirmed that during a telephone conversation on Tuesday between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, the two discussed the possibility of a trilateral meeting with Xi Jinping on the margins of the November APEC summit, noting that there is an “opportunity” for a China-U.S.-Russia trilateral summit.
