The Hong Kong Police Force is launching a "Super App," an enhanced emergency telephone system, and a 5G-based communication system to improve public services and operational efficiency, leveraging Hong Kong’s high smartphone penetration rate of over 27 million mobile users.

New Hong Kong Police Super App

On August 10, the police will release an updated mobile app consolidating over 50 services, including reporting lost property, filing crime reports, and applying for licenses. The app features an AI chatbot, "Yes Sir," offering anti-scam advice with multimedia responses. It supports single sign-on via the Digital Service Logon or "iAM Smart," push notifications for incidents and traffic updates, and a map to locate police stations and kiosks.

Upgraded Electronic Police Report Centre

The Electronic Police Report Centre, integrated into the app, now offers auto-fill for personal details and a 48-hour save function for partially completed forms. GPS-based address mapping reduces input errors, and the file upload limit has increased to 50MB for videos, aiding investigations. Electronic crime reports have risen from 2,991 in 2002 to 212,331 in 2024.

Self-Service Kiosks

Twenty-seven self-service kiosks at police stations, MTR stations, the airport, and immigration checkpoints allow quick reporting of lost property, reducing processing time from 15 to 5 minutes. More kiosks will be added later this year.

Enhanced Emergency and Communication Systems

By late 2025, a new emergency telephone system will handle higher call volumes and support multimedia messaging, shortening 999 call wait times. A 5G communication system will enable real-time audio, video, and image sharing, boosting officer efficiency and supporting innovative policing technologies.

Smart Policing Commitment

The Super App aligns with the government’s "one-stop service" initiative, streamlining service delivery and future development. These upgrades reflect the police’s focus on smart policing, enhancing public safety and accessibility.
